Congratulations to our Patron

10th May 2021

We are delighted that Sadiq Khan will continue as Patron of the Charity and congratulate him on successfully achieving a second term as Mayor of London.

Sadiq’s commitment to social integration, social mobility and investing in young Londoners is wonderfully aligned with the Fund’s mission to empower young Londoners from disadvantaged backgrounds to acquire the skills and opportunities they need to thrive and fulfil their potential.

Being officially sworn in at Shakespeare’s Globe this morning, Sadiq also announced ‘Let’s do London’ – a new campaign focused on getting the tourism and creative industry up and running again. This initiative correlates with our ambitions to grow our work in this space and promote our Manifesto for Change – a series of five urgent and practical recommendations for the industry.

Structural inequalities in this city continue to be exposed and exacerbated by Covid-19, and we know that those from low-income and Black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds are being disproportionally affected. More must be done to reverse these inequalities.

This past year alone has been incredibly busy for the Mayor’s Fund for London as we saw need for our services skyrocket, and we were able to reach and support close to 40,000 young people across the capital. Our focus now is to help transform the lives of 100,000 young Londoners by 2023.

We look forward to working with the Mayor and his team to realise this mission.
