Blog 11: We have lift off!

13th December 2016

The Mayor’s Fund for London began the teacher training for the Discovery within a Week (a Noosfera project) project last week. Teachers from 6 schools across London are taking on the challenge of real-life astronomy research with groups of students. Working with astronomers from UCL the teachers learned the basics of Astronomy and how to use the computer software packages to look for asteroids and variable stars. The teachers will set up and run their own Discovery clubs with 10 students from year 7-9 beginning after the Christmas break. These students will have the opportunity to search for and discover new asteroids and variable stars. They will even be able to name any they find!
