The Man Charitable Trust (The Trust) provides grants to UK-registered charitable organisations which are able to evidence increased attainment in literacy and/or numeracy. The Trust has partnered with the Mayor’s Fund for London since 2009 and is a supporter of the Mayor’s Fund for London Count on Us Parental Engagement Programme.
Approximately 17 million adults in the UK are working at Entry Level 3 or below in numeracy – the skills expected of an 11 year old. The Count on Us programme seeks to engage parents within disadvantaged families in the mathematical education of their children, to improve their numeracy and maths confidence. In the 2015/2016 academic year, the programme reached 28 London schools, supported 3,000 families and engaged over 6,500 children.
The Trust is proud to support the Count On Us programme. As the programme has demonstrated, through targeted parental engagement, it is possible to achieve significant and important improvements in numeracy and maths confidence. The implementation of the programme across further London schools and the creation of tailored resources will continue to play an important part in helping each child to achieve their potential.
