We are taking part in the Summer Give this week – an online match funding campaign run by the Big Give and The Childhood Trust which helps charities like ours raise essential funds to alleviate the impact of child poverty in London during the summer holidays when children are particularly vulnerable.
We’re taking part to raise vital funds for Kitchen Social – which aims to feed a minimum of 50,000 children across all 33 London boroughs by 2020.
DONATE NOW and help Kitchen Social feed TWICE as many children during the summer holidays.
Kitchen Social gives children and young people a safe place to go during the school holidays where they can socialise, make new friends and get a healthy FREE meal.
The programme is about so much more than just food. It looks at general mental and physical well-being and social integration. Additional benefits include learning about healthy eating, skills development, social inclusion, identification of children and young people in need and the development of staff, volunteers and local capacity.
Since launching in January 2017, Kitchen Social has engaged 95 hubs across 23 boroughs – 46 are delivering the programme and a further 32 have been trained and are preparing for delivery. The initiative has helped to provide 10,800 meals to 1,728 children and young people. Youth clubs, schools, churches, adventure playgrounds and community centres across London are amongst those providing free meals and activities for the capital’s hungry school children.
