KEY STAGE 3
The Count on Us Secondary Challenge is designed to support the new National Curriculum which foregrounds fluency, reasoning mathematically and solving problems.
Students will develop fluency by practising hard to solve number and fraction combination problems fast. They will need to reason algebraically to compare and solve statements to complete a London-themed problem solving task. Finally, they will develop their geometric reasoning skills by solving problems based on classic puzzles in unfamiliar formats.
The Count on Us Secondary Challenge is delivered in partnership with the Jack Petchey Foundation.
There are three stages to the tournament:
STAGE 1 – REGIONAL HEATS: These are organised in host schools across London in April 2020, and will be the qualifying round for the Semi-finals.
STAGE 2 – SEMI FINALS: 24 schools from the Regional Heats will qualify to take part in these, which will be held at City Hall in June.
STAGE 3 – FINAL: 12 schools will join us in the Chamber at City Hall for the grand final in July.
