Miss Dorothy

The children I teach show significant enthusiasm for the Miss Dorothy concept. Sean, year 4, responded particularly well to the freedom to choose between drawing and writing. He finds writing difficult and this leads to unco-operative behaviour. It seems that he has been set free with his Miss Dorothy book and he is now one of the first to be ready to talk about his pictures. He has even started to write labels for his pictures. Consequently, he has earned admiration from his classmates, which has boosted his self-esteem making him more willing to take time to think, voice his opinions and listen to the views of others.

Keeping children safe …

It is well known that if children do not feel safe, they cannot learn to their full potential. The missdorothy.com programme educates children aged 7-11 on how to keep safe and manage the risks they may face at school, home, in their local communities and online.

Children are taught vital safety messages through the character-based programme and discuss real problems that they face in a constructive and friendly way. This programme is delivered in partnership with the Metropolitan Police.
