It’s Your Life Delivered by Globetown Learning Community

My mum died recently so me and my brother went to live with our sister, Jackie, and her 3 kids. Her 2 bedroom flat was so small that I didn’t have a bed to sleep in. Jackie is at University having been on It’s Your Life herself. I’ve been struggling at school and had a few exclusions. I really enjoyed the trip to University of Strathclyde with It’s Your Life. It was great to have some space for myself. I came back feeling positive and I’m doing well. In my careers interview I realised my ambition is to be a teacher and have applied to study a BTech in Sports. Things are looking up because we've also been rehoused with the help of It's Your Life.

Showing young people the value of education …

It’s Your Life helps young people at risk of exclusion to make positive and informed choices about their commitment to academic achievement and the schooling system. Working with 14-16 year olds, it promotes opportunities in further education, training and employment, as well as offering support from life coaches and mentors.

It’s Your Life also offers education and support programmes for parents. The aim is to enable young people to overcome the traditional socio-economic barriers associated with coming from a “disadvantaged” background.
